BLOOD

The artist particularly holds this drawing technique dear because it enables to obtain some higher softness of the shades. It consists in drawing with a kind of chalks in several shades of red called “bloody” used either to draw the line or to blur the colour.
It perfectly fits to the modeling required for the figure and that’s why it’s widely used both in nudes and in faces. All the preparatory studies of the frescos are performed with this technique.
